PHOENIX–Best Western International expects to add 120 properties, either constructed or converted, to its North American development pipeline in 2013.

More than 80% of these hotels are expected to be either a Best Western Plus or Best Western Premier, according to president & CEO David Kong. More than 40% of the membership association's 2013 development pipeline will be new construction projects, up from 35% in 2012. This will add more than 10,800 guestrooms to the Best Western system.

In addition, Best Western hotel owners in North America are expected to invest approximately $70 million in property improvements this year, noted VP of North American development Mark Williams.
