Refinery Hotel will open in a former hat factory in New York City.

NEW YORK—The Refinery Hotel, an adaptive reuse of a former hat factory in Manhattan's Colony Arcade building in the Garment District, is slated to open this spring.

Refinery will be located in the 1912 building on 38th St. between Fifth and Sixth Avenues. Architecture and design firm Stonehill & Taylor have revitalized the space with subtle period details and nods to the Colony’s history, such as a bar called Winnie’s Tea Lounge after one Winifred T. McDonald, an original tenant.

Charles Aini is the owner of Refinery. “The style, sophistication and craftsmanship of this historical building combined with the creativity and energy of its Fashion Center location will fuel Refinery’s beyond-great-service mantra, creating a one-of-a-kind experience and exciting new addition to Manhattan’s hotel scene,” he said.
