BURLINGTON, VT—The Hotel Vermont is slated to open here this spring.

TruexCullins, a local architecture and interior design firm, is designing the 125-room hotel, which expects to be LEED-certified. Vermont inspired the design, and local materials were used, such as furniture made from white oak indigenous to the state, stone countertops with Vermont marble and flooring made from reclaimed antique red oak.

The lobby will feature a wood-burning hearth, while the outdoor terrace offers an open hearth and views of Lake Champlain. The hotel offers 2,000 sq. ft. of green roof space and a 7,500 sq. ft. harbor terrace that features local artist Richard Erdman’s bronze sculptures. It has four meeting rooms; Juniper, a bar and restaurant; and a Hen of the Wood restaurant.

Hans van Wees is the GM of the hotel.
