Global Warming Casts Pall on Ski Resorts

ASPEN, CO–A study by the National Resources Defense Council and Protect Our Winters has cast doubt on the long-term viability of U.S. ski resorts and the rest of the $12.2 billion a year winter sports industry.

The study found that winter temperatures in the northern half of the country are expected to warm an additional 4-10 degrees in the coming decades, resulting in less snowfall, less snow covered area and shorter snow seasons, all combining to jeopardize many ski resorts' financial stability.
