FTC Issues Warning on Resort Fees

WASHINGTON, DC–The Federal Trade Commission has issued a letter warning hotels about the alleged use of mandatory resort fees.

The FTC describes these fees as dip pricing, defined as a pricing technique in which hotels advertise only part of a hotel room's price for the night and don't reveal the remainder of the charge until later in the purchasing process. In the case of a hotel booking that would be at check-in.
