TV hostess Padma Lakshmi drops off shoes at donation site at Westin New York Grand Central.

NEW YORK—Westin Hotels & Resorts and New Balance have launched an exclusive gear-lending program.

Started as a pilot program with 10 Westin properties in 2010, the gear-lending program has grown to include all of Westin’s 190 properties internationally.

The global program launched with a 5k run in New York City to benefit Soles4Souls, an organization that provides shoes to adults and children in need around the world, with a majority of donations supporting Hurricane Sandy relief.

The Westin/New Balance gear-leading program allows guests to borrow running shoes with disposable insoles, as well as a variety of men’s and women’s New Balance apparel, including shorts, shirts and socks for men and shorts, capri pants, shirts, sports bras and socks for women. Guests also have access to exclusive in-room fitness and equipment-free content from New Balance Fitness Ambassador and celebrity trainer Holly Perkins.

New Balance continues to work with individual Westin properties to enhance the current three and five-mile local area running maps. As part of the partnership, participating properties provide guests traveling for a major athletic event, such as a marathon, with wellness amenities, including turn-down gifts with “performance/fuel” goodies for the race and “good luck” wake-up calls.
