CHICAGO—Hyatt Hotel Corporation has opened the Park Hyatt Chennai, marking the 30th hotel in the Park Hyatt collection and the first Park Hyatt hotel to be introduced in the city of Chennai, known as the gateway to Southern India.
Designed as a serene and tranquil retreat, Park Hyatt Chennai is located next to the Governor’s residence and is also adjacent to Guindy National Park. A 15-minute drive from the city’s airport, Park Hyatt Chennai is close to the new developments of OMR (Old Mahabalipuram Road), Sri Perumbudur and the Guindy Industrial Estate.
“We are proud to expand the Park Hyatt brand in India with the opening of Park Hyatt Chennai, which joins the newly opened Park Hyatt Hyderabad, as well as Park Hyatt Goa Resort and Spa,” Peter Fulton, manager director, Hyatt – Southwest Asia, said in a statement. “This opening is reflective of the thoughtful growth we’re experiencing in India, as well as the growth of the brand in destinations that will ultimately build customer preference.”
Park Hyatt Chennai features 201 luxury guestrooms, including 20 suites, all designed to contribute to the understated sophistication and mood of the hotel. Rich travertine marble floors and plush, hand-tufted rugs are found in every guestroom, along with polished marble bathrooms with deep-soak bathtubs. In addition, all suites feature stone plunge tubs.
The property’s restaurant, The Dining Room, features all-day dining and traditional South Indian and European bistro fare. And, in early-2013, Park Hyatt Chennai will be home to a new dining experience, The Flying Elephant.
The Antahpura Spa features six treatment rooms that overlook the landscape of the national reserves of Guindy. A fully equipped fitness center, Sphere, offers cardio, strength training and yoga, in addition to hot and cold plunge pools and steam and sauna facilities.
Furthermore, the property offers more than 8,000 sq. ft. of meeting and event space.
