Guestrooms at South Place offer contemporary design.

LONDON—Independent luxury property South Place Hotel, a member of Design Hotels, opened here yesterday.

Located between Moorgate and Liverpool Sts., the 80-unit hotel features art installations, contemporary design collaborations with Conran-designed interiors and contemporary cuisine by restaurateur D&D, which opened the hotel, marking its foray into lodging.

Guestrooms feature Josephine Home bed linen, cashmere-wrapped mattresses and amenities by perfumer James Heeley. Each room has an individual look, with handpicked artworks from Hoxton Art Gallery and Jealous Gallery, a welcome box by Studio Conran with a hand-drawn map by Emily Chappell, Bang & Olufsen, 40-inch Beovision 10 televisions and hand-cast resin pieces of British printed ephemera by AMD Interior Architects.

On the ground floor, the all-day British diner 3 South Place offers contemporary classics with a D&D twist. There's also a breakfast bar and a table-service champagne, wine and cocktail bar. In addition, the Angler Restaurant, situated on the seventh floor, offers seafood.

There also are five meeting rooms and a games room.

A strong focus on art and design is evident throughout the hotel. Damien Florébert Cuypers’ illustrations are on the walls of 3 South Place and the elevator lobby features a wall of mechanical pixels. A sculpture by Grace and Webb is located in an atrium bar on the first floor.

Bruce Robertson is serving as general manager of the property.
