HONOLULU—Outrigger Hotels and Resorts has entered into an agreement to acquire the 254-key Laguna Beach Resort in Thailand.
The property is located in the Laguna Phuket integrated resort on Bang Tao Bay on the northwest coast of Phuket, Thailand. The transaction is scheduled to close in the first quarter of 2013.
The resort, which originally opened in 1991, features a spa, tennis courts, meeting and conference rooms, a wedding chapel, water features and a pool. Additionally, there is a kids club.
All 254 rooms feature a private balcony. The guestrooms and public spaces are undergoing renovations and are expected to reopen early in the second quarter of 2013.
The Laguna Beach Resort marks the second Outrigger property in Laguna Phuket. The first, the Outrigger Laguna Phuket Resort and Villas, has been managed by Outrigger since 2009.
Outrigger began its Asian expansion a few years ago and now includes properties open or being developed in Bali, Phuket and Phi Phi Island, as well as Thailand, Sanya, Hainan Island, China and Quy Nhon, Vietnam.
