SYDNEY/MCLEAN, VA—A new Hilton Blue Paper has been released by Hilton Hotels & Resorts called “Emerging Global Spa Trends,” which highlights and examines spa trends across the world.

The report outlines insights from industry experts and founders of top spa product brands, among others. It includes a survey of 6,000 respondents throughout the U.S., Great Britain, Australia and China.

A key finding is that nearly 50% of the participants said a spa is an important factor when choosing a hotel. Chinese travelers found it most important, followed by Australians.

The report identifies spa-goers and spa behavior based on generation, highlighting the differences and motivators for each age group; discusses the modern spa guest who is aware of the overall efficacy of spa treatments and products; and highglights the importance of the male spa-goer to the industry and how a spa should cater to its audience.

In addition, the Hilton Blue Paper talks about the need for global spa concepts to offer consistent services across their portfolios with local flexibility; underscores the importance of spas to the hospitality industry; and takes note of the importance of business travelers, who are looking for ways to unwind between meetings. It also offers insight on regional trends seen by experts in the U.S., Middle East, Africa, Europe and Asia-Pacific.
