What are these?
MCLEAN, VA—Hilton Hotels Corp. has found its replacement for its former global head of luxury and lifestyle brands, Ross Klein, who was put on administrative leave earlier this year in response to a Starwood Hotels & Resorts lawsuit against Hilton. Filling the role now at Hilton is John Vanderslice.
Vanderslice was most recently the CEO of Miraval Spa in Tucson, AZ, where he helped transform the 13-year-old spa into a top-ranked lifestyle resort, according to Hilton. He also launched the first branded lifestyle real estate concept, Miraval Living, in New York.
Prior to that, Vanderslice was president and CEO of Club Med Americas, and he has also held executive positions with Triarc Restaurant Group, Ft. Lauderdale and its subsidiaries, including Arby’s and T.J. Cinnamons, Inc. He also once oversaw legacy brands and new product introductions at Kraft General Foods.
Klein was removed from his Hilton position as a result of the Starwood lawsuit that alleged Hilton stole proprietary information from Starwood in creating its Denizen lifestyle brand, the development of which has since been put on hold. The suit specifically alleged that ex-Starwood executive Klein and another ex-Starwood executive that joined Hilton were responsible for the theft.
