We provide state-of-the-art lighting, audio, video and meeting equipment and support in high-end convention and luxury/upscale hotels, resorts and conference centers. We currently seek a Director of Hotel Development/Acquisitions. The Director of Hotel Development/Acquisitions actively prospects, pursues, designs proposals for, makes presentations to, and closes new hotels, resorts and conference centers to which Swank will provide its audio visual sales and service program. Additionally, this individual will represent Swank at major hotel industry functions, as well as General Managers meetings for key partner hotel ownership and management companies. The position will be based in our home office in St. Louis, Missouri. If the successful candidate does not presently reside in St. Louis, a commitment to relocate within one year of starting the position will be required. A relocation package will be provided. Major responsibilities: •Pursue new hotels, resorts and conference centers for Swank to provide its sales and service program to. This includes cold calling of prospects. •Develop and nurture relationships with targeted prospects.•Create customized audio visual services programs that meet the needs of the prospect.•Create and make presentations to hotel executive management in a business-to-business sales environment. •Close new business. •Negotiate renewals of agreements as they become due. •Represent Swank at major hotel industry functions, as well as General Managers meetings for key partner hotel ownership and management companies. •Maintain database of hotel, resort and conference center prospects. Supporting activities: •Lead new hotel selling activity, including the development of an annual sales and marketing plan. •Report against the sales and marketing plan to the Company's senior management. •Achieve annual sales goals for new business. •Work within a “team selling” system, whereby Company regional managers identify desirable hotel accounts and Company executives become actively involved in the selling cycle. •Communicate professionally and persuasively by telephone and written correspondence, and proactively communicate within the Company. •Follow up with all customers and target prospects, meet commitments, and honor commitments. •Seek new ways to increase customers’ satisfaction and loyalty. •Establish and maintain sales files to track leads. •Maintain relationships with select existing hotel, resort and conference center partners. •Research client organizations. •Demonstrate effective listening skills. •Clarify customers' needs and effectively explain how Swank's services will solve those needs. •Write business contracts. •Track and report Swank's market share. Requirements: •5+ years of successful business-to-business sales experience in the hospitality industry, or comparable experience at an executive level in a large hotel organization. •History of achievement and progression with previous sales positions. •Deep understanding of the hospitality industry and, in particular, the luxury and upper-upscale segments. •Polished verbal and written communication skills, with messages that are clear, concise and persuasive. •Excellent organization and planning skills. •Ability to manage multiple tasks in a demanding, high-energy environment with shifting priorities. •Proven experience in developing positive customer relationships and increasing customer satisfaction and loyalty. •Demonstrate a sincere interest in others. •Ability to stand in the shoes of customers and prospects. •Act as trusted advisor, exhibiting honesty, reliability, and a high level of integrity and professional ethics. •Consistently optimistic, enthusiastic, confident, and outgoing. •Resilient in pursuing goals despite objections, obstacles and setbacks. •Thrive on the challenges of the sales process, and enjoy regular cold calling activities targeting new prospects.
