CHANTILLY, VA—Westfields Marriott Washington Dulles has undergone an extensive renovation, including new technology platforms.
This includes new guestrooms designed for meeting attendees, a restyled conference dining room, new restaurant and a soon-to-be-completed updated fitness center. Mobile-friendly apps ease scheduling and implementation of meetings and streamline guest check-in.
The food and beverage outlets at the hotel take center stage in the renovation. Wellington’s, a public house, pays homage to its namesake, “Iron Duke,” with wall coverings that feature the famous Duke’s letters to generals during the Napoleonic Wars. Parker Torres Design was tapped for the interiors. In addition, newly decorated Palm Court offers daily breakfast and a Sunday brunch in a club-like atmosphere, and serves as a dedicated private dining room located adjacent to third-floor function space at the conference center in Virginia.
Twenty new third-floor “business boost” guestrooms offer easy access to the private dining room and function space, as well as amenities including 47-in. HDTVs and refrigerators stocked with bottled water. In-drawer safes have been installed in guestrooms throughout the Chantilly hotel.
A soon-to-be-completed renovation of the fitness center will add enhanced exercise equipment, Internet access and new flooring.
In addition, the hotel offers new Marriott Hotels and Resorts technology apps: Red Coat Direct, which lets organizers adjust and edit their meeting requests and preferences; Workspace On Demand, powered by Liquidspace, which allows guests to book free and paid meeting spaces; and Mobile Check-In, which provides an enhanced arrival experience with check-in up to two hours before arrival and automatic notifications when a room is ready.
Host Hotels & Resorts owns the hotel.

When you hear all the lodging industry projections for the months and years to come, much of the robust growth is forecast to be the result of the expected influx of travelers from China. In what could only be seen as good news for the industry, that expectation moved a little closer to reality when President Obama signed a visa waiver extension for Chinese travelers earlier this month.
