BRUSSELS—Following Starwood’s investment of 150 million euro into the restorations of four iconic European hotels, an additional 300 million euro has been invested to restore hotels in Europe and the Middle East.
Hotels that are included in the restoration plan include: Hotel Imperial in Vienna, Austria; Excelsior Hotel Gallia in Milan, Italy; Santa Marina resort in Mykonos, Greece; and Grand Hills in Broumana, Lebanon.
Later this summer, in time for the hotel’s 140th anniversary, Hotel Imperial will complete its one-year restoration. The restoration, led by British designer Alex Kravetz, will reimagine concepts for the restaurant, destination bar and café and event spaces.
In November, Excelsior Hotel Gallia will open. Studio Marco Piva is leading the design and architecture concept, which will feature a fusion of contemporary design in a new building with the original hotel’s Belle Epoque architectural style. The property, which is The Luxury Collection’s seventh hotel in Italy, offers 235 guestrooms and suites, as well as a restaurant, rooftop bar, lounge bar and cigar room and leisure, wellness and event and meeting facilities.
This summer, the three-year restoration of the Santa Marina resort will be completed, included in the complete renovation of its 100 guestrooms and suites. Silvina Macipe Krontira of SMK Interiors, based in Greece, is leading the restoration, which will offer a contemporary design that is also timeless, the company noted. The Bayview Beach Restaurant & Bar has been redesigned and features contemporary honeyed wood interiors and will serve Mediterranean fusion cuisine and seafood.
The Grand Hills, following its conversion, will reopen in December as Luxury Collection Resort & Spa, marking The Luxury Collection’s debut in Lebanon. The property will feature a Lebanese mountain resort style, 115 rooms and 53 suites, three restaurants and two bars, the company conluded.
