WILKES-BARRE, PA—Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs and Mohegan Tribal leaders opened their new hotel and convention center.
The construction project, coined Project Sunlight, broke ground last July and features a seven-story hotel, spa and adjacent convention center.
The 238-room hotel includes a combination of standard guestrooms and suites, all incorporating new technologies including iPad Mini compendiums, iHome docking systems, Smart TVs and single-cup coffee brewers. The hotel also features an indoor pool, fitness center, business center and on-site Spa Sapphire salon and spa.
The adjacent 20,000 sq.-ft. convention center offers flexible meeting space to accommodate groups ranging from 10 to 1,500. The space can also be converted into a live events center.
The hotel will host a grand opening celebratory weekend January 17–19, 2014, headlined with a private performance by stand-up comedian, actor and late-night personality Jay Leno. Additional entertainment confirmed for the weekend, to date, includes country star Josh Turner, the Bacon Brothers and David Foster and the Mohegan Sun All-Stars.
