WEEHAWKEN, NJ—Marriott will break ground on two new hotels here on Wednesday, Nov. 13: the 226-room Renaissance by Marriott and 154-room Residence Inn by Marriott.
XSS Hotels, purchased the development rights for the space from Port Imperial Master Developer Roseland, a wholly owned subsidiary of Mack-Cali Realty Corporation. The hotels will be built alongside of each other on top of the recently-opened Port Imperial parking garage in Weehawken.
The Renaissance will include a function space for up to 750 seated guests, a lounge and breakfast space and a 30,000 sq. ft. outdoor terrace. The Residence Inn will feature guestrooms with a fully equipped in-suite kitchen, as well as free daily hot breakfast. Guests from both hotels will have access to a high-end restaurant located on the sixth floor, as well as a shared pool and fitness center.
The parking garage the hotels will be built on top of opened in September and includes 850 parking spaces and 17,000 sq. ft. of ground-level retail space. It is located directly across the street from a Hudson Bergen Light Rail station and next door to the NY Waterway Port Imperial ferry terminal.
Port Imperial is a 200-acre, $2 billion master-planned community that stretches two miles along the Hudson River. The community comprises residential, retail and an intermodal transportation system anchored by a commuter Ferry with service to Manhattan and a Light Rail Station.
