HOUSTON—RIDA Development Corporation in conjunction with the Houston First Corporation will develop a 1,000-room Marriott Marquis located here.
The hotel, which will have over 100,000 sq. ft. of meeting space, will be across the street and connected via skyway to the Houston Convention Center. It is scheduled to break ground in 2014 and open in 2016.
Situated in downtown Houston, the hotel will have direct access to the Discovery Green, CBD theater district, University of Houston, shopping, dining and underground Houston. In addition, there will be 20,000 sq. ft. of ground floor retail in the hotel.
“We are thrilled to join RIDA development in bringing the Marriott Marquis to Houston. This 1000-room hotel will add hundreds of jobs and offer other economic benefits to the city. It will join the Marriott Marquis hotels in New York, San Diego, Atlanta and Washington, DC (opening in 2014), which are known throughout the convention and meetings industry for offering world class amenities, services, and state-of-the-art meeting technology,” stated Terri Dolan, Marriott’s area VP/America’s/Western region.
