ST. LOUIS—Holiday Inn Express is upgrading and rebranding the original Bel Air Motel, St. Louis first motel, which is currently operating as a Comfort Inn. It will be called the Holiday Inn Express Central West End.
The hotel closed on June 19 to begin the $3-million upgrade. The multimillion renovation includes 123 new guestrooms, four suites and a redesigned lobby, fitness center and courtyard. Amenities include free wireless high-speed Internet access, the Holiday Inn Express Start Breakfast, a business center and complimentary newspaper on weekdays.
The Holiday Inn Express Central West End will open in early September. Additional amenities include a jogging station with cold towels and water; pet-friendly accommodations; a private courtyard with an oversized garden chess game, a reference to its location near the World Chess Hall of Fame and the St. Louis Chess Scholastic Center; a vintage snack shop with items that offer “a taste of the 50s,” according to the company; and bicycle rentals.
The property is owned by an affiliate of Garrison Investment Group and operated by Associated Hotels, LLC.
