LONDON—DoubleTree by Hilton recently opened the latest addition to its growing London portfolio—the brand’s 10th hotel in the capital area.
DoubleTree by Hilton London – Islington marks the brand’s 10,000th room in Europe and joins Hilton Worldwide’s growing full-service brand after a multi-million pound refurbishment. The property, alongside the recently opened DoubleTree by Hilton London – Chelsea, operates under a franchise agreement with Jurys Inn.
John Greenleaf, global head, DoubleTree by Hilton, said, “Since 2007, the brand has grown from no presence in the U.K. to nearly 25 properties, with 10 of these in the London area.”
DoubleTree by Hilton London – Islington is located less than 300 meters from Angel tube station, and half a mile from Kings Cross station and St. Pancras International with connecting high-speed Eurostar services. Its location grants convenient access to London’s major attractions including Buckingham Palace, the National Gallery, British Museum, West End theatre district and the city’s shopping areas, including Oxford Street, Bond Street and department stores Harrods and Selfridges. The district of Islington offers a number of specialty boutiques, arts scene and popular restaurants and bars, as well as the famous Emirates Stadium, home to Arsenal Football Club.
DoubleTree by Hilton London – Islington has recently undergone a renovation and features 229 modern guestrooms. In October, this will increase to 372 bedrooms as the hotel will add a further 143 rooms including 66 deluxe rooms and 43 executive rooms following a substantial extension to the hotel. The refurbished ground floor, created by leading international design studio designsquared, includes a contemporary lobby and lounge area incorporating local design features.
At gin bar Bar60, guests can enjoy a range of drinks before dining at The Grill Restaurant, a full-service eatery which offers a wide menu of contemporary options, grill specialties and all day dining. The hotel also features more than 3,200 sq. ft. of meeting space, a 24-hour complimentary business centre, concierge services through the reception team and complimentary, 24-hour on-site fitness centre and free WiFi throughout the hotel.
