Crowne Plaza Opens First Hotel in Barcelona

BARCELONA, SPAIN—InterContinental Hotels Group has opened the Crowne Plaza Barcelona — Fira Center here.
The 276-room hotel, which will operate under a franchise agreement with Hotel Fira S.A.U., is located between the "Plaza de Espana" and Gran Via Avenue. The hotel includes 18 meeting rooms, which have a capacity of up to 1,200 people, executive private areas and a new Club Lounge.
According to Tom Rowntree, VP, brand management upscale and luxury brands, Europe, "we're delighted to open our first Crowne Plaza in Barcelona, a city frequented by both leisure and business travelers."

When you hear all the lodging industry projections for the months and years to come, much of the robust growth is forecast to be the result of the expected influx of travelers from China.
