CARLSBAD, CA—Park Hyatt Aviara Resort named industry veteran Scott Allen general manager of the North San Diego property.
In his new role he is responsible for the management, operations, sales and marketing of the AAA Five Diamond, 329-room property.
Allen joined Hyatt Hotels in 1986 and most recemtly was GM of Hyatt Regency Century Plaza in Century City, CA.
Allen’s career began in the food and beverage division of Grand Hyatt Cypress. He progressed through various jobs within Hyatt, including food and beverage director at Hyatt properties in Grand Cayman, Hilton Head and Beaver Creek before becoming general manager of Hyatt On Printer’s Row in Chicago, Hyatt Regency Cincinnati, Hyatt Regency Aruba Resort Spa and Casino, and Hyatt Regency La Jolla at Aventine.
Park Hyatt Aviara Resort is set on 200 acres with views of the Pacific Coast and Batiquitos Lagoon. Available are facilities for meetings and special events, four restaurants, a full-service spa, swimming, tennis, a fitness center and an Arnold Palmer-designed 18-hole championship golf course.

When you hear all the lodging industry projections for the months and years to come, much of the robust growth is forecast to be the result of the expected influx of travelers from China. In what could only be seen as good news for the industry, that expectation moved a little closer to reality when President Obama signed a visa waiver extension for Chinese travelers earlier this month.
