HHM Announces New NYC Leadership Team

PHILADELPHIA—HHM has completed its search for a new executive leadership team to guide its New York City region’s operations, revenue management, sales and human resources.
“With nearly 20 hotels in New York City and several on the horizon for 2014, adding these talented and experienced men and woman to lead our New York City portfolio and regional office gives us great confidence,” said COO Mike Murray. “Each of these leaders were handpicked to navigate this complex market and we look forward to seeing their contributions act as a catalyst for even more growth and success.”
Consisting of Dani Elhachem as SVP of Operations, Sam Mehra as Chief Revenue Officer for New York and the Independent Collection, Theresa Rayos Del Sol as regional director of sales & marketing and Jake Basham as regional director of People Support, this team contributes over 50 years of New York City and industry experience to HHM’s existing leadership in the region.
All operating responsibilities, portfolio performance and future market growth will now be led by Elhachem, who brings more than 22 years of industry experience to his role. Dani Elhachem joins HHM after his tenure as VP of operations at Denihan Hospitality Group, where he oversaw the company’s corporate operations functions relating to the portfolio’s performance and strategic management.
All revenue management for HHM’s NYC and Independent Collection properties will be led by Sam Mehra, who brings a decade New York City revenue management experience from his tenure as VP of revenue and distribution at Highgate Hotels. At Highgate he led the revenue function for a large portfolio of branded and independent hotels, in and around New York City. Mehra was responsible for over 6,000 rooms in different submarkets of Manhattan, consisting of brands such as Hilton, Doubletree, Radisson, Marriott and various boutique as well as large, iconic independent hotels.
Sales and Marketing for the entire New York portfolio is overseen by Theresa Rayos del Sol, who returned to the city after her tenure as Regional Vice President of Sales at the Global Headquarters of Hyatt Hotels & Resorts in Chicago. During her Hyatt career, Rayos del Sol significantly contributed to the brand launch of Hyatt Place and HYATT house as well as the creation and globalization of Hyatt’s RFP process, communication vehicles and creation of franchise hotel support teams.
Jake Basham recently joined the team to provide total HR strategic leadership within the New York portfolio. Having spent the past five years at Denihan Hospitality Group, where he held the position of regional rirector of human resources overseeing HR operations for multiple luxury and lifestyle asset and celebrity chefs’ destination restaurants, Basham also held HR leadership positions with Omni Hotels and Hilton Hotels.

When you hear all the lodging industry projections for the months and years to come, much of the robust growth is forecast to be the result of the expected influx of travelers from China. In what could only be seen as good news for the industry, that expectation moved a little closer to reality when President Obama signed a visa waiver extension for Chinese travelers earlier this month.
