LAS VEGAS—The 278-room Las Vegas Marriott has achieved Gold LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) certification.
“We are excited to add another hotel to Marriott International’s growing list of LEED certified properties,” said Denise Naguib, VP, sustainability & supplier diversity. “LEED certification demonstrates our commitment to sustainable development and operations, emphasizing the importance of responsible growth.
The Las Vegas Marriott recently underwent renovations of its guestrooms and meting spaces to target large groups who want to hold their meetings in an eco-friendly venue. The new venue, 600 sq. ft. of meeting space, can be converted to fit an event’s needs and is outfitted with energy-saving fluorescent lighting.
Additional green attributes that helped the property achieve Gold status, determined by points earned by a property upon evaluation, include: water-saving showerheads in all guestrooms; water-conserving 1.6 gallons per flush toilets in all guestrooms; a kitchen cooking oil recycling program; and purified water stations in foyer areas.
GM Keith Gamberg stated, “Offering our guests superior service while being environmentally conscious is at the core of Marriott’s commitment to sustainability. We are proud that our recent renovations and changes to hotel functionality have earned us LEED Gold certification from USGBC. The Las Vegas Marriott looks forward to welcome guests and meeting groups who share our high environmental standards.”
