HB ON THE SCENE: AAHOA Marks 25 Year Milestone; Outlines Key Objectives

PHILADELPHIA—The Asian American Hotel Owners Association (AAHOA) is celebrating its 25th anniversary at this year’s conference and its leadership outlined some key objectives moving forward such as increased political advocacy, growing its base of lifetime members and a deeper focus on technology.
Held at the Philadelphia Convention Center here, Raj Trivedi, EVP, franchise & chief development officer, La Quinta Inns & Suites, kicked off the event charting the association’s progress. “AAHOA has gone beyond the lodging industry and experienced remarkable growth,” he said, adding, “La Quinta is a stronger brand for partnering with AAHOA over the years.”
According to AAHOA Treasurer Jay "Jimmy" Patel, the association, which now includes more than 12,500 members, had a record year financially generating some $9.5 million, which resulted in record profits of $1.6 million. He also noted AAHOA grew its lifetime membership to 2,726, an increase of 45%.
AAHOA Chairman Mehul Patel noted that the group raised over $200,000 during the past year for the PAC fund. He underscored the association’s three primary goals for its members. “Our focus is simple, it’s to make you money, save you money and protect your investment,” he said.
Fred Schwartz, president of AAHOA, took the opportunity to look ahead as well. “We will work hard together advocating, educating and adapting. The success of tomorrow’s generation will be even greater than the success of today.”
