WASHINGTON, DC—Spa by JW, a new spa concept from JW Marriott Hotels & Resorts, has been launched. The first Spa by JW will open in September at the new JW Marriott Houston Downtown, followed by the JW Marriott Mumbai Sahar in December. More than 20 Spa by JWs are planned.
Spa by JW allows guests to experience treatments and products designed to address four core benefit states: Calm, Indulge, Invigorate and Renew.
Guests will enter through a social lounge space, designed for guests to relax, according to the company. They can then browse the retail area with both traditional and non-traditional spa products, ranging from eye masks and meditation books, for the Calm pillar, to artisanal chocolates and wine, fulfilling the Indulge pillar.
At the Curator’s Desk, guests can browse the treatment options, ranging from full-service to express spa treatments. The treatments were developed in collaboration with JW Marriott brand partner Aromatherapy Associates as well as created with the pillars in mind.
To fulfill the Calm pillar, sample services include a 15-min. tense-shoulders massage or the hour-long Sleep Deeply treatment. For Indulge, sample services include an Ultimate Aromatherapy massage or the Intense Nourishment body treatment. To Invigorate, sample services include a Jet Lag Cure or Energy Boost express massage. For the Renew pillar, the spa offers Intense Muscle Relief or a Detox & Revitalize body treatment.
Spa by JW’s express treatments start at a 12-min. entry point and guests can book them without an appointment. The express spa suites, designed around a state-of-the-art massage chair, are exclusive to JW Marriott, according to the company. They feature embedded scent infusers, noise-canceling technology and cell-phone charging stations.
Treatments include various 12- to 15-min. services such as the Relaxing Scalp Massage (Calm), Hydrating Hands (Indulge), Energy Boost Massage (Invigorate), Nail Shine (Renew) and more.
Treatment rooms can also accommodate longer, full-service spa treatments. Full-body treatments and scrubs, 60- or 90-min. massages, cleansing facials and nail services are all available.

The theme of this year’s ALIS conference was “Don’t Worry, Be Happy.” But, lets face it, there are always going to be some people who aren’t happy unless they are worried about something—whether it’s the Fed potentially raising interest rates or that the price of oil is now too low, threatening to cripple the economies of some foreign nations.
