IHG Adds UK Holiday Inn Express Properties

ATLANTA—InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has added three Holiday Inn Express hotels in the UK: Holiday Inn Express London – Vauxhall Nine Elms, Holiday Inn Express Leigh – Sports Village and Holiday Inn Express Wigan in Greater Manchester.
The 132-room Holiday Inn Express London – Vauxhall Nine Elms, opening later this year, will operate under a franchise agreement with first-time IHG owner Heathdeal Ltd. The hotel will form part of London’s largest regeneration projects, according to the company, as it will be adjacent to new shops and offices being built as part of a redevelopment.
The 135-room Holiday Inn Express Leigh Sports Village, opening this summer, is operating under a franchise agreement with KS Hotels Limited. The property, which has been recently built, will features six meeting rooms, a bar, lounge, dining area and on-site car park with 165 parking spaces.
The 87-room Holiday Inn Express Wigan, which will open in 2015, will operate under a franchise agreement with Viking Bear Limited. It is located near Wigan’s city center and near DW Stadium.

When you hear all the lodging industry projections for the months and years to come, much of the robust growth is forecast to be the result of the expected influx of travelers from China. In what could only be seen as good news for the industry, that expectation moved a little closer to reality when President Obama signed a visa waiver extension for Chinese travelers earlier this month.
