OAK BROOK, IL—First Hospitality Group, Inc. (FHG) will manage The Drake Oak Brook hotel here, the suburban counterpart of Chicago’s Drake Hotel.
The Drake Oak Brook is currently closed as it undergoes extensive renovations that will preserve the “traditional elegance and old world feel” of the property but scheduled to reopen as an independent hotel in Fall 2014, said Robert Habeeb, president and COO, First Hospitality Group Inc.
Originally built in 1961 to cater to upscale clientele, The Drake Oak Brook is currently undergoing a significant revitalization of the exterior, entrance, public space, office space and guestrooms. Under FHG’s management, the property will host 80 guestrooms and 50 suites for long-term stays, designated as Residences at the Drake.
The renovation also includes 11,300 sq. ft. of meeting space and a 2,000 sq.-ft. outdoor patio overlooking the fountain, along with several ballrooms and meeting rooms. The hotel is in close proximity to downtown Chicago, O’Hare Airport and more than five luxury golf resorts.
