RIO DE JANEIRO--Atlantica Hotels International has signed the Radisson Hotel Rio de Janeiro to oversee the management of the property. Currently, Atlantica Hotels manages seven Radisson hotels.
Scheduled to open January 2014, the converted landmark beachfront hotel will offer 292 guestrooms and suites. Over the next five years, an investment of $5.5 million in enhancements will be made to the hotel.
“This is a fantastic addition to the Radisson portfolio. As a business destination, Rio de Janeiro is important to the Brazilian economy, and one of the largest leisure destinations in Brazil,” stated Thorsten Kirschke, president, Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group, Americas.
"With such a conversion, we strengthen our market presence in the region of Rio de Janeiro and the lodging options in the luxury category," stated Paul Sistare, president and CEO, Atlantica Hotels International. “This is Atlantica’s 36th hotel conversion in Brazil.”
Located on the seven-mile Barra da Tijuca beach in the Barra region of Rio de Janeiro, the hotel will offer 292 guestrooms and suites, a restaurant, two bars, a spa, gym, squash court and heated pool. The hotel also has 11,960 sq. ft. of flexible meeting space. The property is seven miles from the Riocentro Convention Centre and has easy access to Galeão Internacional Airport.
